<h3>Celebrating Coach Royal Webster and 50 years of coaching basketball!</h3>Coaching basketball has been a part of who I am for the last 50 years. I was just 13 years old when Mr. Dick Barth asked me to coach a 10-and-under team. He explained that many of the players didn’t have an adult male in their lives, and knowing I had lost my father to cancer five years earlier, he believed I could connect with them. He was right. That team went on to win the Tamiami League 10U Championship—and I was hooked. From that moment on, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to coach boys, girls, women, and men at nearly every level of the game. Somewhere along the way, I learned that winning is simply a byproduct of doing everything else right—and that the people I coached always mattered far more than any scoreboard. On March 23rd, I officially stepped down as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Lake Highland. The most constant part of my life is now behind me. Much to my surprise, a video was created highlighting a small piece of those 50 years. In it, many people thank me—but the truth is, I’m the one who is most grateful.If you want to know what kind of Congressman I would be, just ask any of the players I’ve coached.

I have been very fortunate to travel our country and the world, and through those experiences, my perspective of America has continued to grow and evolve. I’ve seen firsthand how deeply connected our world has become and how isolationism is not the way forward. The United States must continue to lead as a champion of freedom, democracy, and economic strength, but that cannot happen by raising tariffs, alienating our allies, or driving trading partners to take their business elsewhere; leadership means building bridges, not burning them. Unfortunately, the current President’s economic decisions and moral failures threaten to undo decades of progress, and a man who has bankrupted multiple companies now risks bankrupting American families — and if left unchecked, could do lasting damage to our nation. It is time for Congress to reclaim its constitutional authority and restore accountability to the highest levels of government, and we must have the courage to stand up for what’s right, stop this economic and moral decline, and bring integrity, responsibility, and balance back to Washington. Our future depends on leadership that unites rather than divides — leadership that puts country over party and service over self‑interest.

Helping Homeless Veterans Access VA Programs

<h3>Since late 2025, oil imports from Venezuela and Mexico have dropped sharply or stopped altogether, leaving the island without enough fuel to maintain electricity generation, transportation, and industry. The impact is visible in daily life. Rolling blackouts affect homes, hospitals, and schools, with some areas receiving power for only a few hours a day. Jet fuel shortages have forced airports to halt refueling, leading to airline cancellations and further damaging tourism, once a major source of revenue.</h3><h3> Fuel scarcity has raised prices on the informal market and caused long lines at gas stations. Rationing has pushed many residents to walk or rely on limited public transport, increasing strain on food distribution and public health services. External assistance has been limited. Mexico has sent humanitarian aid, but it does not address core energy needs. Without sustained fuel imports or long-term energy diversification, experts warn Cuba’s economic and social pressures will continue to grow. </h3>

<h3>In the past, new ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers typically went through multi-month training, often including a combination of language instruction and law enforcement curriculum that could last around five months before field duties.</h3><h3> Over the past year, that training has been significantly reduced as part of a broader hiring surge. By late 2025 and into early 2026, investigative reporting found that the length of academy training for ERO officers has been cut to roughly eight weeks — about 47-48 training days if counted on a six-day-a-week schedule.² Some outlets have reported even shorter time frames, closer to six weeks, though official Department of Homeland Security sources have not confirmed exact day counts.</h3><h3> In contrast to earlier, longer training periods, the newer, shorter program is designed to move officers into field assignments more quickly amid rapid workforce expansion. This has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers and analysts concerned about readiness and preparedness for complex enforcement duties.</h3>

Virginia’s Law is a federal bill introduced on February 10, 2026, by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Representative Teresa Leger Fernández with support from survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking, including the family of Virginia Giuffre, a prominent Epstein accuser who died in 2025. Its aim is to eliminate the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits relating to sexual abuse and trafficking at the federal level, meaning survivors could pursue legal action regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred.</h3><h3> The bill is currently stalled in committee because both the House and Senate are controlled by Republicans, and it faces skepticism from lawmakers concerned about potential legal and financial implications, including a possible surge in litigation. Without broad bipartisan support, the legislation has not yet moved forward to a floor vote, leaving its prospects uncertain. </h3>

Congressional Tariff Authority Restoration Act of 2027

The Department of Education (DOE) needs to be rebuilt so it can better protect the rights of students with special needs and make sure all students are measured by the same standard. Right now, every state has its own rules and its own tests, which makes it hard to compare student learning across the country. My plan would keep local control over curriculum but create one national standard for measuring proficiency.Special Needs ProtectionsOne of the biggest problems today is that many students with disabilities do not get the services they are guaranteed under the law. The DOE would create a new office focused only on making sure schools follow special education laws. This office would have investigators to look into complaints, help families, and make sure schools provide Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) on time. Schools that ignore these laws could face penalties, while schools that meet the rules would get more support.National Proficiency StandardInstead of 50 different sets of rules, the DOE would set one standard of proficiency for the entire country. To measure this, students would take national tests in grades 3, 5, 8, 11, and 12. States would still give their own tests in the other years, but they would have to align them with the national standard. This way, we could finally compare results fairly across all states. Students with disabilities would have full access to accommodations like extra time, technology help, or alternate assessments.Funding and IncentivesFederal money would be tied to student performance. States would have two choices to qualify for funding:<ol><li>Show that at least 50% of students are meeting proficiency on the national standard, or</li><li>Agree to adopt the DOE’s recommended curriculum and improvement plan.</li></ol>States that fall short would not be punished right away. Instead, they would receive extra support, training, and resources to help them catch up. States and districts that make fast progress—especially with special needs students—could receive bonus funding.Role of DOE in CurriculumThe DOE would not tell states what to teach. Instead, it would provide guidance and recommended resources if states ask for help. This keeps local control in place but still allows for consistent measurement nationwide.Timeline<ul><li>Year 1: DOE restructures and new offices are set up.</li><li>Year 2: Pilot national tests and begin stronger enforcement of special education laws.</li><li>Year 3: Full national testing begins in grades 3 and 5.</li><li>Year 4–5: Expand national tests to grades 8, 11, and 12. It makes sure students with disabilities are supported, while also giving every state the same measure of success. By aligning standards, strengthening special education protections, and rewarding progress, the DOE can help prepare all students to succeed.

County agricultural extension agents worked quickly to reroute half the funds from existing reserves, providing partial relief and helping ease immediate drought concerns. While the workaround helped, growers voiced frustration over application delays, urging a more streamlined process for future grant cycles. Despite the hiccup, the county’s farming community demonstrated resilience and collaboration, and the extension office commended the innovative response. No formal alerts were issued by the broader Farm Bureau, but local farmers continue advocating for smoother support mechanisms to prevent similar setbacks </h3>
